 What is Business Class Email?

  • Is enterprise class email the same as used by major corporations. It is dependable, stays on the server until you delete it, and is not lost if your hard drive crashes. Our Servers are HP Proliant servers with raid arrays, redundant power supplies, and UPS (uninterruptable power supplies). Daily backups, weekly tape backups.

 Is my email secure?

  • Yes, your email is stored in an encrypted file format by a 40 bit key that cannot even be read by administrators browsing the file system of the servers. Communication between the agents on the server is secured by 256 bit SSL connections.

    Client to server communication in encrypted by the default 40 bit key, then encapsulated with 256 bit SSL encryption.

    Web client is secured by 256 bit SSL, access to web via https:// only.

    The servers are protected by a multilayer firewall system.

 What is a Resource?

  • A resource is a mailbox that does not have a user, but is assigned to a user as owners. This can be used for example to schedule a conference room or vacations. We use them for [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. This allows us to assign access our sales and support teams, while the owner is able to monitor the resource and insure that nothing fall through the cracks.

 Is there anti-virus protection?

  • All inbound email is scanned by two anti-virus solutions at our firewall, before it reaches the email server. Malware is rejected by the system, and virus email is quarantined.
    Users should also have a current updates internet security solution on their pc. ( examples Kaspersky, MacAfee, AVG, Symantec, Trend Miro.)

 Is there anti-spam protection?

  • All inbound email is scanned using RBL (Real-time Black List), Reject invalid HELO / missing RDNS, Use BATV and Perform SPF check. Not all spam can be stopped.

 What are my client options?

  • We offer three client options.
    Full client that runs on windows.
    Web client that can be used with most web browsers.
    And your smart phone can be a client, with activesync.

  • Third party clients
    Ghost Pattern Software, clients for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android.
    Notify Technology, a full solution for your Smartphone with NotifyLink and NotifySync.

    For Mac there is an older client that works but does not have all of the features of the current windows client.

    Windows client allows mailbox caching giving you a copy of your mailbox on your local hard drive, allowing offline access.

 Is there down time?

  • Scheduled downtime is inevitable, because systems and software require upgrades. We schedule upgrades for weekend, and during server downtime all mail is held by the firewall proxy, so no incoming mail is lost. You will be notified in advance of schedules outages. Systems are monitored to predict system issues to reduce unscheduled downtime.

    Unscheduled downtime does occasionally occur due to events that we can't control, such as extended power outages, cables being dug up or acts of god.

 What are my advantages to hosted email?

  • The first advantage is the saving of capital outlay, up front saving of three to eight thousand dollars.
